Read, read, read!

This fanfiction certainly deserves the 10/10 I give it! An amazing look at what the seventh book could possibly be like. I felt like I was reading Rowling's work in disguise, I was so convinced.

Okay the first chapter is a little bit unusual and it does seem like every other fanfic out there, but I urge you to read on. I became sucked into the plot and found myself staying up way past my bedtime just to continue reading. The characterisations are spot-on and the plot's are gripping. The reader can tell that some facts have been thoroughly researched which is esstential with an epic like this one. Believe me, the thirty chapter will soon fly by and you'll want much more from this author.

doctor who: one-shots of interest

Okay, I'm very naughty and haven't been updating this thing as much as I should. If you notice, I haven't been updating my personal journal much either. This is because I simply haven't had the time, I had to perform a play twice this week, worked all day yesterday and really have not stopped since Monday. *Phew*
Alright, enough moaning. You can probably guess that I'm a busy bee with these silly things called a-levels so I, of course, have been wasting away my cousework time looking for some good fics to recommend, hence forth the one-shots of interest post.

Okay, so why do I like it? Purely for the ending!

I'm a bit strapped for good fanfic reviews here but I was surfing through someone's memories the other day and came across this. It's not amazingly written and some relationships between characters could be explored further - but hey, this is a cosy little one-shot from a budding writer. What I liked most of us all has to be the tiny twist at the end. You'll have to read for yourselves, but this isn't exactly like every post-Doomsday fanfic out there.

Aww okay I really missed the Ten/Rose banter but the Ten/Martha worked okay. A good one-shot for those like me who are really going to have to be won by Martha in series three. Basically, you really forget about the fact that Martha's in it because this fic is just too god damn cute. I adore how different the author has been when given the term "Baby" to work with on a fic idea, especially how they have not immediatly jumped to the first assumption when you mix the Doctor and the word "Baby". Go forth, read!

Okay, how do I start this one huh? The first fanfiction ever to get a full ten stars out of me, and you know why? 'Cos it's a bloody good fanfic, that's why! I'm always as honest as I can be about fanfictions and (really) it's quite rare for me to give out top marks to a story, there's always something ever so slightly wrong, but nope, not here.

Someone actually recommended this to me ages ago, even though thrown off by the rather mature content to begin with and seriously having to read those bits over again to actually get the plot, I really, really enjoyed it. The chapters are wide in content, and the mature parts are written with taste. The popularity of this fic shows how good it really is. It doesn't need an entirely catching plot to keep people reading, it merely follows with the natural pattern of series two and many people, even myself will very happily sit along and see what else the author has to pull out of her hat to give the characters all that more sense while actually watching series two.

This is the story of what could've happened behind the scenes of series two, although more the censored part the BBC would never make (shame, shame!). This is why I like it, it's simple, yet so complicated at the same time. It gives canon so much more depth while weaving in delicious descriptive scenes and exploring colourful landscapes.

I honestly cannot (at this moment in time) find words to express how much you should read this fanfic. Ten sticky gold stars to guide you to the chapter list in a hope that you'll read it for yourself and do a better job of evaluating should an excellent story.

Pointing out unfinished fanfictions always make me feel quite sad because I don't feel like I'm really giving out anything by reccommending someone to something that probably will never be finished. However, I have to say that the Elemental Series is an exception. Although I haven't read the story in quite some time and surely need to again to brush up on my knowledge and understanding of the later chapters, I really do indicate strongly that you lose a few hours in this strong Harry Potter fic.

Don't be fooled by the far too familiar child abuse scenario as it only really plays quite a small role in the story and isn't so cliché'd as some fanfics tend to be. The first few chapters are a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to quality of description and characterisation, but what I favour this fic for is that the writing improves as the author moves on and pulls the reader into some sturdy action sequences. Not only are you becoming involved in the Harry Potter universe but you are also falling into two other separate fantasy worlds created from this author's excellent imagination and thorough researching.

If you're looking for some good adventure and/or fantasy then this is the fanfic for you. Given an 8/10 for its plot and depth, you'll surely enjoy becoming engrossed in the story of Dragon clans, Gods, Goddesses and a theory on how fate can intervene mixed with a dash of magic and witty character interactions.

I should really, really be concentrating on reading some gritty fanfiction as it seems to be like gold dust in the fanfiction world lately, and its hard to find something that's actually worth spending your time reading, especially when you're like me and should be doing exam revision. However, I found this story about two-thirds into my summer holiday when I was bored out of my mind and it was pretty good. Sadly, I completely forgot about it and it's wanderful characterisation when college started again so thus, I just didn't read any new chapters.

It wasn't until I stumbled upon it a few days ago while surfing around time_and_chips that I took the time to read the complete story properly. I have to say now, there's a reason this fanfiction is being recommended! The characterisation is spot on and the plot may not be entirely unique (but what plot is nowadays?) but it's done extremely well by the author. I like this fanfiction mainly because it's use of dialogue, its situation set-ups and mixture of Torchwood and Doctor Who characters. Oh, and also bringing in all of Rose's family was a nice touch.

The ending made me feel warm and fuzzy after a severe hatred that somehow developed out of nowhere for the 'baddie' of the story. The full plot, when revealed near the end was, in the words of the great Nine, fantastic. Thus, I happened to have an about turn on my overall opinion of the story by the time I was hanging onto the edge of my seat with anticipation during the action. Oh, and I also liked the 'sexual' bits as they were done with a talented hand, the passion could almost be felt through the words.

A strong 7/10 for a fanfiction that really is worth spending a good few hours reading on a rainy afternoon with a cup of tea.
